Who We Are
FILÍA MEANS FRIENDSHIP
Our multinational team possesses broad range of stories and skills that combine to make FILÍA a uniquely globally-minded endeavor.
co-founder and Norwegian representative
Anja Brinich first visited Lesvos in 2001 with her long-time friend, Christina Lau. There, she fell deeply in love with the island and became lifelong friends with Mike Konstantellis. She returned frequently; in fact her first kitchen experience was as a kitchen assistant and dishwasher at the Olive Press Hotel in Molyvos!
After graduating with a BFA in Integrated Design from Parson’s School of Design in NYC in 2006, Anja traveled first to Lesvos and then on to Oslo, Norway, where her lifelong passion for food led her to a career in the restaurant industry. She rose through the ranks to become one of Oslo’s few female head chefs. In addition to working in some of the best local restaurants there, Anja also spent the summer of 2013 in Lofoten, Norway, above the Arctic Circle, where she served as Head Caterer for the film “Heart of Lightness.” In an effort to give the cast and crew most authentic experience possible, she worked with the area’s farmers and fisheries to find the best local products for her dishes.
In 2014 Anja decided to further expand her horizons, and put her linguistic skills to work studying French language and translation, first at the University of Oslo and later as an Erasmus Scholar at the Université Paris-Sorbonne in France. Anja’s passions include vintage clothing, Arthur Rimbaud, art history, travel, sociological anthropology, old school rock n’ roll, and absolutely anything food related.
co-founder and Norwegian representative
Molly is the most recent visitor to Molyvos, with a love-at-first sight meeting in summer 2015.
Her close and inspiring friendship with Anja and Mike, together with her experience in international projects, made her addition to the partnership a natural one. American by birth and education, Molly hails from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and also calls New Orleans, Louisiana home. Molly received a BSE in Biomedical Engineering from Tulane University, and went on to complete her PhD in the same at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland 2008. The rigors of a scientific education prepared Molly well for the challenges of running a group and then a research school in Oslo, where she relocated in 2009.
Among her chief mandates has been working across borders with diverse teams to bring projects to fruition. Despite her academic background, Molly’s diverse interests and curiosity have led her to study, live and work all around the world, involving herself in satisfying creative projects. FILÍA's launch matches her longstanding desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment with like-minded people, collectively explore new routes to creativity, and build a community-centered business that forms a cornerstone for people and ideas.
co-founder and representative on Lesvos
A professional journalist, graphic designer and former magazine publisher from Greece, Mike was born in Athens, where his family resided during the 1970s. The family returned to Lesvos when he was four years old and he grew up in the protected traditional village of Molyvos. In 1996, Mike moved to the United Kingdom to study and work. He spent five years living in Bristol and London. He acquired a BA in Culture & Media Studies from UWE Bristol and an MA in Film and TV Studies from the University of Westminster in London. Coming back home from the UK in 2001, he met Anja Brinich and they have been close friends since. A true aficionado of film, music and the arts, Mike has worked many jobs in the media and in a sales oriented environment. He founded and for four years spearheaded the publication of MOVE IT, a free monthly movie magazine, as well as its affiliate website, www.moveit.gr. Mike also amassed considerable experience while working as a dj/promoter in dozens of Athenian cocktail bars and at special events. He fine-tuned his trade while doing seasonal gigs at various tourist destinations, including the Cycladic islands of Folegandros, in Serifos on the island of Zante, and of course on Lesvos. Since 2013 he has been working on a part time PhD in Media and Film at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, UK. Mike’s passions include vinyl records and djing, vintage exploitation movies, photography, politics, history and the island of Lesvos itself!
